At Locus Design Workshop, our passion for the outdoors extends far beyond the buildings we design. We believe in actively caring for the natural spaces we love and empowering the next generation to get outside. Here are a few ways our team gives back to the Northwest Arkansas community and the environment.
Trails are the arteries that connect us to the wilderness. To help preserve Arkansas’s natural beauty, Locus Design Workshop has officially adopted a portion of the Buffalo River Trail. Throughout the year, our team heads into the woods to perform routine trail maintenance, clear debris, and ensure the path remains safe and accessible for hikers, backpackers, and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy.
We design infrastructure for mountain bikers (like our MTB Park Pavilion), but we also believe in building the biking community from the ground up. Ryan volunteers his time coaching a local K-12 mountain biking team. By teaching young riders bike handling skills, trail etiquette, and a love for the sport, we are helping foster a lifelong appreciation for outdoor recreation and healthy, active living.
We believe the best learning happens outside the traditional four walls. To help schools and teachers seamlessly transition their curriculum into nature, we have authored and published the "Educator's Field Guide to Outdoor Classrooms." This guide provides practical advice, layout strategies, and inspiration for creating functional, engaging outdoor learning environments.
